Steel frame or reinforced concrete? Choosing for warehouse builds

The main decision in warehouse construction is the structural type. Both have their place.

Steel frame

Goes up faster — you gain two to three months on the same footprint. Spans are wider with fewer columns, and extending later is straightforward.

Reinforced concrete

Long-lived with low running costs and high fire resistance. But construction takes longer and later alterations are difficult.

In practice

For warehousing and logistics, steel frame is usually the practical choice. For production floors the decision follows the load of the equipment.
